B.A.R.R.A (Bassano And Area Resource Recovery Association)
BARRA, a non-profit volunteer organization, has been active for approximately 15 years. THe BARRA Board meets bi monthly on the 3rd Wednesday and currently has 2 part-time employees. Access is available on a 24 hour basis. We accept and actively recycle: White paper, colored paper, newsprint, glossy magazines,cardboard , tin cans- washed,labels removed and pressed, plastic - washed, and caps removed and some electronic waste - TVs and computers only. Bassano school is a 400 student K - 12 school serving the Town of Bassano, the surrounding area, and the neighbouring Siksika First Nation. As a result, our school has a very multi-cultural feel to it. Our school motto is "Best Efforts Equal Success" and our main school goals are improving reading comprehension and promoting moral intelligence. We have an Alberta Initiative for School Improvement project (Focussed Reading Comprehension)
running at our school which involves a partnership with the University of Calgary. High school students have access to a welding
and mechanics program through the "Innovation Award" winning mobile CTS lab that is provided by Grasslands Public Schools and

The Bassano Community Hall was paid for through generous donors within the community and area as well as grants from the Province. The next time you are in the hall, take time to read the Wall of Fame. Construction was completed in 1996. The hall has a meeting room, kitchen, bar, stage and lighting/sound room. This modern, spacious facility is a cornerstone of the community with seating for upwards of 300 people. Many folks travel to Town for cultural events, conferences, and fundraisers that are held in the Community Hall. With the Kinsmen Park ideally located beside the Hall and the Homecoming Park directly across the street from the Hall; the facility is also popular for family reunions, weddings and many other social events.

Dr. Scott Apartments![]() This apartment unit is managed and maintained by Newell Foundation. The eight units are spacious, well maintained apartments; completely self sufficient for Senior Citizens. The yard is lush and beautiful in summer. |

Elks Hallphone 641-4065 The Elks Hall is owned and operated by the local Chapter #487 fundraisers include bingo bimonthly, pancake breakfasts, Oyster feed - to mention a few. Meetings are held the first and third Thursdays of each month, recessing for July & August each year. For more information-contact Bob Scott @ 641-3013. Hall rental rates are set at $200. for the upstairs and $125.00 for the downstairs. For availability or to book the hall call the Town office at 641-3788. The O.O.R.P. #294 (Royal Purple) meet the third Tuesday of each month. Fundraiser include spring and fall teas, funeral luncheons and catering to banquets. Bassano Masonic Hall #55Bassano Masonic Lodge number 55 A.F. & A.M. G.R.A. received their charter in the year 1911. At that time they rented a building at 223 - 3rd Street. This Lodge and contents were destroyed by fire in 1955. The present Lodge was built by volunteer labour; located at 220 - 3rd Street and is used today by the Masons, Order of the Eastern Star and Big Country Shrine Club. The Masonic membership is about 80 members and regarded as a very active Lodge with regular meetings the second Thursday of each month excluding July and August. The Pioneer Damsiters Drop-In Centre is a wonderful gathering place for seniors. The facility is a Town owned - volunteer operated facility. Activities that take place on a regular basis in the Drop-In Centre are bingos, luncheons, card parties and socials. Membership is very affordable and new members are welcome! Facility informationPlayfair Lodge is a congregate, living facility serving functionally independant senior citizens 65 years of age and over. The Lodge provides housekeeping service, full meal service, laundry service, basic room furnishings, building security, 24 hour non-medical staffing and opportunities for socializing. Cost of Lodge ResidencyPresently, the basic monthly rate is $879.00 for a regular room. The large suites are $1,033.00 for one person $1,465.00 for two people. This amount includes all meals and snacks, housekeeping service, full use of resident laundry facilities plus craft and other activities. Cable and telephone services are arranged by each individual. There is a charge of $5.00 for a small fridge in your room, fridge purchased by residents, and parking utilities are $5.00 per month. Personal laundry services are available, costs are $35.00 per month. Health care and personal care services are not included in this fee. These services are available from Home Care. RCMPphone 641-3684 ![]() The Town of Bassano are pleased to host a three member detachment which is a vital piece to the Town's structure. Our detachment covers policing from Hussar in the north to Highway 36 in the east, south to the Bow River and west to Highway 56. Other communities included in this area are Gem and Rosemary. Assisting the Corporal and two Constables, when called upon, are three Victim Assistance Advocates trained through the Brooks V.A. Bassano Citizens On Patrol (COP) operate to increase citizen participation in observing suspicious events in the community. The purpose is to reduce incidents of crime such as vandalism, impaired driving and break and enters. For more information contact C.O.P.
